U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that the United States is “reinstating” a blockade on Iran in the Strait of Hormuz and, in a seeming policy reversal, will charge other ships for safe passage.
The president has repeatedly said he's the No. 1 target of the Iranian regime, with protesters holding banners calling for his death at Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's funeral this week.
The US president also says Washington will charge a 20% toll on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump had said that the ceasefire with Iran is "over" after Washington launched strikes on the country overnight, to which Iran responded by targeting US bases in the Gulf. View on euronews
