It’s been 135 days since the start of the Iran War, and a diplomatic solution seems shakier than ever. President Donald Trump said Monday that “we’re taking over the Strait of Hormuz,” a day after announcing that “we bombed the hell out of them.

The price of oil continues to rise as the U.S. and Iran trade missile strikes and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed.

Iran retaliated by launching missiles and drones at U.S. allies in the region, and warned its attacks may escalate. The interim ceasefire agreed to last month has collapsed, and the region risks tipping back into all-out war after days of back-and-forth strikes by the U.

Iran said it launched missiles and drones against U.S. military sites.

The deal stopping hostilities is over “in no uncertain terms,” Trump said Friday.

"Ultimately, both sides need a deal soon given domestic vulnerabilities: looming U.S. midterms, Iran's economic and political fragilities."

The UAE calls the attack "brazen" after one person was killed and eight injured, while the US completes strikes aimed at degrading "Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping".

President Trump threatened to order more strikes if Iran's negotiations don't resume talks.
