OpenAI has filed a confidential initial public offering, the ChatGPT maker said Monday, bringing it one step closer to its official market debut.

OpenAI has confidentially filed for an initial public offering, setting it up for what may be the most highly anticipated market debut in recent history and a massive payday for early investors.

"We recently submitted a confidential S-1. We expect it to leak so we're just announcing it," OpenAI said in a statement posted on X on Monday afternoon.
