Iran’s sports minister says his country’s participation in the upcoming World Cup will be uncertain unless FIFA relocates its matches from the United States to Mexico. The Iranian Football Federation (IFF) requested the sport’s global governing body move its fixtures but has yet to receive a response,

Iran will take part in the World Cup and their games will be played in the United States as scheduled, says Fifa president Gianni Infantino. There has been ungoing uncertainty over their participation in the tournament because of the US-Israel war with Iran.

In an interview with Tasnim, Iranian sports minister stated that the national football team would be able to participate in the 2026 World Cup if the political situation stabilizes and the players' safety is ensured.
