In an interview with Tasnim, Iranian sports minister stated that the national football team would be able to participate in the 2026 World Cup if the political situation stabilizes and the players' safety is ensured.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said it’s important that Iran participates in the World Cup even though its participation has been in doubt since the U.S. and Israel launched airstrikes on the country.
