An ICE agent facing several assault charges in connection with a shooting involving two Venezuelan people in Minnesota earlier this year has been arrested in Texas, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said.

An ICE agent who shot a Venezuelan man and is accused of lying about the incident was charged with assault and falsely reporting a crime in Minnesota on Monday.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent accused of shooting a man in the leg in north Minneapolis and then lying about the attack​ was arrested in Texas Friday morning, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

He is facing four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime in the shooting of Julio Sosa-Celis during the immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota.

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent charged in the nonfatal shooting earlier this year of a Venezuelan man in Minneapolis was arrested in Texas on Friday, more than a week after prosecutors announced the charges, officials in Minnesota said.

The agent was charged in Minnesota with assault and filing a false police report in the shooting of an immigrant from Venezuela.
