Elon Musk waited too long to sue OpenAI and its leaders, a jury in Oakland, California, decided on Monday. A lawsuit he filed was barred by the statute of limitations, the jury found after about 90 minutes of deliberation.

Jurors spent nearly a month hearing and viewing evidence in the high-profile trial, where Musk had accused Altman of "stealing a charity".

The Tesla boss accused OpenAI of wrongfully trying to enrich investors and insiders at the nonprofit's expense, and failing to prioritise AI's safety.
