Elon Musk waited too long to sue OpenAI and its leaders, a jury in Oakland, California, decided on Monday. A lawsuit he filed was barred by the statute of limitations, the jury found after about 90 minutes of deliberation.
Jurors spent nearly a month hearing and viewing evidence in the high-profile trial, where Musk had accused Altman of "stealing a charity".
A federal court dismissed Elon Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI and its executives, ruling he missed the filing deadline, while Musk vowed to appeal and claimed the case was never judged on its merits.
