San Diego Police and SWAT officers rushed to the Islamic Center of San Diego Monday afternoon after reports of an active shooter prompted evacuations and a large emergency response.

Five people are dead including two gunmen who police said entered the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday morning and opened fire.

Police say the two suspected shooters at the Islamic Center of San Diego were teenagers, male and are believed dead from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

"There was definitely hate rhetoric that was involved," SDPD Chief Scott Wahl said of the ongoing investigation.

Five total people are dead following a shooting at a mosque near downtown San Diego on Monday, including the two shooting suspects. FOX 4's Vania Castillo has more.
